How We Work

Understand before building. Scope before committing. Stay accountable after.

Nothing gets built before it’s understood

Most software work goes wrong before anyone writes code. The wrong thing gets built, or the right thing gets built on assumptions nobody checked, or the cost turns out to be double what was discussed because the discussion happened too early to mean anything.

So we work in three phases. Each one produces something you can act on, and each one has to earn the next. You’re never committing to the whole journey to find out whether the first step was worth taking.

Explore the situation

Before anything else, we need a clear read on where you stand, and you need to know whether we’re the right people. That’s what the Baseline is for. If the answer is that you don’t need us, we’ll tell you.

Baseline

A free, high-level read on your situation and your realistic paths forward. Yours to keep either way.

Understand the detail

A Baseline tells you the shape of the problem. It isn’t enough to commit real money to. Depending on which direction the work is heading, the next step is a deeper evaluation of what you already have, or a detailed plan for what you’re going to build. Both are fixed-scope, fixed-fee, and both produce something you own.

Assessment

When the value is in the system you have. A deep evaluation across seven dimensions of what’s actually there, what it’s costing you, and what it takes to support or evolve it.

Blueprint

When you’re building or rebuilding. A detailed plan with scope, architecture, cost, and timeline defined before anything gets built, so the number you commit to is real.

Execute the work

Where the work lands depends on what the earlier phases found. Larger efforts get broken into phases, each one fixed, so nothing runs open-ended. For some clients ongoing support is the whole engagement. For others it’s what follows once something has been built or modernized.

Software Modernization

Evolving an existing system, from targeted updates through a full rebuild, depending on how far it’s fallen behind.

Custom Software Development

Building the operational software that doesn’t exist yet, for the parts of the business that don’t fit anything you can buy.

Ongoing Support

Someone accountable for keeping a system healthy, current, and moving. Either as the engagement itself, or as what comes after one.

What working this way means

You see what we see. When something surfaces that affects scope or cost, you hear about it when we do, and you decide what to do about it. No quiet drift, no reconciliation at the end.

And what you’re left with is software your business runs on that you don’t have to think about. It does what the work actually requires, it changes when the business changes, and when something needs attention, someone who understands it is already on it.
